Examples of her vision can be found in myriad past projects including her leadership of a pioneering team that established evidence-based community alternative care programs in PTSD for Veterans in direct response to her observations of systems and access failures in the Veterans Healthcare Administration. As a graduate student she trained extensively with the National Center for PTSD in Menlo Park where she developed psycho-educational content for web-based delivery for Veterans and co-founded the Early Intervention Trauma Clinic, which still operates in Palo Alto providing low cost evidence-based intervention following trauma. She served for three years as the PTSD assessment and treatment coordinator for the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center with the Veterans Healthcare Administration where she earned special contribution awards for her work in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Dr. Charvat also contributes as a subject matter expert for multiple media outlets including Kaiser News, Participant Media, The Huffington Post and KRON 4 in San Francisco.
